I've got a Bike!

Yeah~~!
No lar.... Bicycle i mean.. =(

It takes me 25 min to get to school to walk to the U-bahn station, take train, and take bus to school. While it take me only 15min to cycle to school. So i decided to buy a bike.

I was overjoyed when i managed to dig out a bike low enough (and NOT a kid's bike) that has everything in order in the 2nd-hand bike shop. (Though for 30 minutes, i was convinced that those two conditions were mutually exlusive...=) )Then there i was, happily mounting onto my bike until my friends asked me, " Gen, where do you live? Which way are you going?"

SHUCKS.
I live ultra far away from the shop! Itz about 10 MRT stops away?!? *Stunned*
And this direction iddiot over here has no Map with her! How?!?!

*Tick........... Tack ..............Tick*
Geez, its starting to rain too.....=S

(3 Seconds later)

*Ticktakticktackticktackticktackticktackticktackticktackticktackticktackticktackticktack..................*
and VERY HEAVILY?!?! =S =S

In the end the 3 soaked Chickens cycled all the way back to their (the other 2 guys') hostel which was only 4 U-bahn stops away. Great, but NOW my bike ends up being 14 stops away from my hostel and with my legs aching.

*Sweat*

Moral of the Story : Always ask where your friends stay before following them home.... =)

Me , my Bike, my friend David from US and his bike.

What ?!?!

I was totally stunned when i heard about it.
There will be no public services (eg, bus, tram, U-bahn, S-bahn) and probably no supermakets opened on thursday.

Nope, itz not a public holiday. Try again....

Itz a strike.
Yes, u read it right.
S-T-R-I-K-E.

Apparently itz the way things work over here. Very Interestingggg..... This time, the workers union is lobbying for higher wages. The part i find it even more interesting was, that they braodcasted over radio today to inform all those in the union not to go to work on Thurs! haha... (i hope i dint hear it wrongly!)

BUT .... that means i'll need to WALK to school early in the morning on Thursday!?!?!My school is 5 U-bahn (MRT) stops away from my hostel!! *faint* Havent managed to bring myself to look at the map yet....=S

Can i go on strike on Thurs too? Hmmm.... =P

Spaghetti-Lover Conversion Course..

Recommended Dinner Menu For Newcomers Who do not know how to cook
Mon: Spaghetti
Tues: Espaguete
Wed: Спагетти
Thur: Italian Noodle with tomato sauce
Fri: Espagueti
Sat: Spaghetti
Sun: Yi Da Li Mian

ok, if you havent realised, all the dishes meant 'Spaghetti' in different languages! And Yours truely happens to fall into the cateogary of "Newcomers Who do not know how to cook" too=P After many days of trial and error, I am proud to announce that my friends and I have perfected the skill of cooking the best spaghetti and also in eating spaghetti.

Tip for Newcomers who are using the recommended Menu:
1) It is better to cook less than cook more... especially on the first few tries...
2) Use Bright lights while cooking, dim lights while eating... especially on the first few tries...
3) Dun think. Just do it. Eat.

Haha..The food here is pretty expensive unless you cook at home. However, if u really dun feel like eating any dish in the recommend Menu (which u eventually will), u can also hit the road and grab a kebab. Itz quite common in Germany and itz the cheapest and nicest food which u can find outside. Too bad i gobbled up all my kebabs before i can take a picture of them.. will do that soon =)

Language Problem? No Problem.....=)

German : "Hallo... jha iadslfi8 ioea hlaerhn iues iouesrh aserkdp ? "
Gen : "Huh?? Noch einmal bitte??" (huh? can u repeat that again?)
German: "saien iesjkl iosakjsf;p sd0ijdfsoo.......? "
Gen : "Entshuldigung, Ich hab dich nicht gut vestanden..." (sorry, i cant understand u very well)
German: " U-$-J-&-G-(--F-I-D- ? "
Gen : Ehhh, spichst du english? (ehhh,do you speak english?)
German : *sweat*

Okok, that's an exaggeration. Well, not because my German is good enough to understnad everything in German, but because they simply translate in English once you do not understand it for the first time! hahah..=)

But of course, i have had awkward situations especially with the older generation of Germans or Turkish who do not speak english at all. We had to resort to Mime when all words fail.

Language barrier is not a very big problem over here in Munich as most Germans could speak at least some English. However, it would be much more convenient if we can master the language. =)

I muss mein Deutsch verbessern !

But one word that i've learned to say in Germany, and have used it many many times....

"PROST!"

Cheers.... =)
